A lead alloy weight of unknown date, circa Roman to Post-Medieval, circa AD 43 - 1800, but likely Medieval to Post Medieval. The weight is conical with a slightly domed top, circular, flat base and tapered sides. The outer surfaces are not smooth, but there does not appear to be a recognisable design. There is a hole in the centre of the base and protruding at the apex which is 3.93mm diameter. The weight has a cream coloured patina. The weight measures 15.02mm in height and the base is 27.4mm in diameter. It weighs 53.6g.
The object is more likely to be a weight than a spindle whorl becuase the central hole it too small for a spindle. Similar weights have been recorded on the database: WMID-6E1AB6 and WMID-E5B94D discovered in Worcestershire and BH-A4E212 discovered in Hertfordshire.
