A complete cast copper alloy socketed spearhead in two foining fragments, of Davis’ (2012) Group 6 (Developed side-looped), Middle Bronze Age, probably a product of the later Arreton, Acton Park, Taunton or early Wilburton metalworking phases (c. 1500 – 1100BC, or Needham’s (1996) Periods 4-5).
The break is across the leaf-shaped blade, it is an old break and patinated the same dark brown colour as the rest of the piece (?water/peat patination), the circular sectioned socket (socket internal dia. 13.5 mm) is still filled with earth and may contain the remnants of the wood shaft of the spear itself, the socket doesn't reach as far as the break though it appears to be quite close to the end of it. Small losses and slight distortion to the edges near the break and the tip is very slightly bent, this bend is most likely from use rather than post depositional damage.
