A complete Post Medieval cast copper-alloy gilded mount dating c. AD 1500-1700. The mount is trapezoidal in shape and sub-D-shape in cross-section with a square plate projecting at one end. The long edges are bevelled and the corners rounded. Extending along the centre of the plate is a groove flaked either side by a slightly raised ridge. The long edges are also slightly raised so that the front surface of the plate on either side is slightly hollowed. Patchy gilding covers the upper surface. The remainder of the object is mottled mid brown and green in colour, as is the flat underside. Projecting at each end of the reverse are inwardly pointing attachment spikes.
The mount measures 20.1mm long, 11.4mm wide and 5.7mm high (the plate is 2.1mm thick). It weighs 2.43 grams.
