A small cast opper alloy harness pendant. The body of the pendant is cruciform, with waisted arms with rounded ends and an incised saltire cross across the base of the arms. The pendant is slightly plano-convex in section. The suspension loop at the top is rounded, orientated perpendicular to the plate and is heavily worn at the top. Circa AD 1200-1400.
Notes:
Either a harness pendant in its own right, similar to WAW-F47A11 or the centre of a framed type, as SUR-50C182. It is suggested that the cruciform shape was favoured by clerics, although they may merely indicate private devotion (Clark, 1995).
