A silver early medieval penny of Cnut (1016-1035), Quatrefoil type (North 781) dating to c.AD1017-1023, moneyer: Bolla, mint: Gloucester.
The coin is badly cracked across the face, following the line of the horizontal arms of the reverse cross and there is a fragment of the coin missing at the edge along the line of the crack.
Obverse: Crowned bust left, within quatrefoil. +CN[V]T REX ANGLO
Reverse: Long cross voided on quatrefoil; each limb terminates in three crescents, pellets at apex of cusps. +BOL/LA O/N GL/[.]PE
