A cast copper alloy tool, possibly an awl or chisel.
The object is an elongated rectangle in plan with one pointed terminal and one flat terminal. The majority of the object is square in section. The edges of the object are very square and fresh. The surface of the object has a mid green/grey coloured patina.
The object is 71.3mm long, 7.9mm wide and 7.4mm thick. It weighs 25.27 grams.
The object is difficult to date, the surface does not suggest a prehistoric date, as these usually have a heavy patina and the edges seem to regular for awls of this period. Two similar object (LANCUM-810270 and WAW-9FA083) have been identified on the database suggested to date from the Roman to Post Medieval period, the Post Medieval period is the most likely date.
