A cast copper alloy leg fragment, probably from a cooking vessel, dating from the medieval or post medieval period, about AD1200-1700. The object is convex on one face; the other face has a central strengthening rib running lengthways with a concave groove running either side giving a fluted effect. The width is even to the base. Both long edges appear to be breaks. The fragment has a brown/green coloured patina with traces of what appears to be carbon deposits. Dimensions length 26.5mm, width 40.0mm, thickness:10.0mm, weight 47.94g. Compare figure 4a on page 6 of Butler, Green and Payne (2009) Finds Research Datasheet 41, which suggests that legs of this form had a wide range of use form the medieval period to the 17th century.
