A cast copper alloy Medieval harness pendant dating from AD 1250 - 1400. It is shield shaped, with a straight top and tapering convex sides which meet at a point. There is a projecting suspension loop in the centre of the top, and the loop is at right angles to the plane of the pendant. The front face retains traces of decoration in the form of raised and depressed areas, and probably once had an enamelled field, but not enough of this remains to be decipherable. There appears to be a cross saltire with a motif in each angle. The rear face is plain and shows no sign of having been decorated. Both faces have a dark green patina. It is 42.71mm long, 24.71mm wide and 7.06mm thick. It weighs 7.63g. See https://finds.org.uk/counties/findsrecordingguides/harness-pendant/ for further information.
