Fragment of a medieval to post-medieval copper alloy candlestick, an incomplete lathe-turned base. The outer edge was removed, apparently deliberately, in antiquity so that the present edge, of which about 33% is extant, is imperfectly circular with a diameter of only c.70mm. The underside is hollow and sports many turning marks. The upper face is smoothed by polishing and rises to a 15mm-diameter hole into which the upright would have been fitted. Extant height c.10mm. Weight 24mm. Mid 15th - 16th century.
