A cast copper alloy weight-box lid of medieval date. The lid of the box is flat and circular, and is decorated on the outer surface with two pairs of incised concentric circles around a single, small central circle. The reverse of the lid is undecorated and flat. Two sub rectangular hinge loops project from opposite sides of the lid and are angled downwards. One loop has two perforations and the other a single perforation and still contains the remains of a pin.

Weight boxes similar to the one that the lid belonged to held a set of nested cup weights of differing sizes and weights which were used to weigh small quantities of precious materials such as gold and silver. A similar example can be seen at YORYM-0B5244.
