Post Medieval (16th and early 17th centuries) dress hook: The copper alloy, cast dress hook has a moulded trefoil (formed by ropework) with openwork with an integral sub-trapezoidal loop protruding from the upper edge of the dress hook body. The reverse of the body is flat. The lower leaf of the trefoil has a long, slender hook protruding, which is incomplete. The break is not recent. The surface of the dress hook has dark brown matte surface.
The dress hook measures 28.69mm in length, 18.73mm in width and 3.66mm in thickness of the hook and weighs 1.81g
Margeson (1993) illustrates similar dated dress hooks, Nos. 71 to 75, and dates these types of objects to the late 16th to 17th centuries. Read (2008) illustrates a similar designs, Nos. 436-438 and classifies them as Class E Type 5 dating them to the 16th and early 17th centuries.
