Lead alloy lid handle. Cast terminal, possibly from the ornate handle of a large spoon. The end is an oval biconical unit with both its sections vertically ribbed, the lower part with a rounded basal expansion which is billeted, with a recess or collar below it. Twisted and broken below the collar, probably where it was fitted into a lid of different material. A thick layer of glossy black paint appears over most of the object. The design may nod to neo-Classical Renaissance forms. Suggested date: Post-Medieval, 1650-1700
