An incomplete copper-alloy unidentified object, probably a strap fitting of Roman date. A long, narrow strip, D-shaped in cross-section, one end curved and one end straight with an apparently deliberate c.120 degree bend between the two sections. The outer face of the curved section is decorated with two longitudinal lines of small parallel tool marks. The outer face of the straight section is decorated with bands of transverse grooves flanking an in situ copper-alloy rivet and has a forked outer end. The surface of the metal is corroded and the breaks are well worn.

Strong similarities can be seen with late Roman strip bracelets (e.g. Crummy 1983, 46, fig.47), although the deliberate bend and rivet suggest a different function.
