An incomplete pewter spoon of Post Medieval dating (16th to 17th Centuries AD).
Less than 25% of the spoon is present, consisting only of the top part of the bowl and part of the stem. The fragment starts off wide and gradually tapers to a thinner stem. It has a flat cross section. No decoration is present on either the front or the back. The fragment displays a ninety degree bend at the halfway point. Old breaks are visible at either end of the fragment.
It measures 29.1 mm in length, 12.4 mm wide (max), 7.4 mm wide (min) and it is 4.1 mm thick. It weighs 6.4 g.
The fragment is a dark grey colour, with an even surface patina. Abrasion, caused by movement whilst within the plough soil, has resulted in a loss of some of the original surface detail.
Similar spoon fragments have been recorded as NARC-F4AC96 and NARC-0573B3 and are considered to be Post Medieval (16th to 17th Centuries in dating).
