A complete Post Medieval shilling of William III (1694-1702), minted at london and dated 1696 on the coin. The obverse shows a laureate and draped bust right. Inscription: GVLIELMVS · III · DEI · GRA. The reverse shows four crowned shields in a cruciform arrangement, surrounding a lion. Inscription: MAG· BR·FRA· ET·HIB· REX·16 96·. Edge milled.
The coin measures 21mm in diameter and 0.7mm thick. It weighs 2.9g.
