An incomplete copper alloy double-looped buckle dating to the Post Medieval period (c. AD 1650-1720). The object is oval in plan with a central bar, lying flush with the frame, dividing the frame into two, equal, D-shaped loops. The buckle is bevelled on the face and flat on the reverse. The buckle has a brown patina and the pin is missing.
Comparable examples recorded on the PAS database include: LIN-0792C4; WMID-9F1A1E; and SOM-1C5047. These records have suggested that a buckle of this size and style was probably intended as a shoe buckle.
The overall dimensions are as follows: 17.31mm in length, 20.05mm in width, 2.32mm in thickness and 1.76g in weight.
