A Scottish silver Medieval cut halfpenny of Alexander III (1249-1286 AD), first coinage (voided long cross and stars), type IIIc (Spink S5043) dating to c1250-1280. Moneyer: Wilam. Mint: possibly Edinburgh. Ref: Spink 2015, pg 17.
Notes:
This reverse die has a single pellet stop between M and O. This combination is also found on a die of Kinghorn (Holmes die D); however the die in this record is not a match to the Kinghorn die. An Edinburgh die with a pellet stop between M and O is not listed as an Edinburgh die in Burns (1887).
