An incomplete cast copper-alloy Post Medieval hooked tag, of Read (2008) Class E Type 3, dating c. AD 1500-1600. The hooked tag comprises a central circular plate with concave reverse and moulded decoration on the domed face. On the upper edge is an integral trapezoidal loop of a frame that is triangular in cross-section. On the opposite edge of the plate is a scar where the broken rear-facing hook would have projected. The surfaces of the plate and loop have mottled light and dark green patination.
The dress hook measures 20mm long and 14mm wide. It weighs 1.78 grams.
For similar examples of this type of dress-hook, see Read 2008, p. 95, as well as OXON-A77EE6 and BERK-1EA0A5 on the Portable Antiquities Scheme database.
