A late Medieval (15th century) copper alloy jetton of early Nuremberg type. Obverse: standing figure of crowned Emperor with branch or sceptre, flowers in field, no margin (as Mitchiner 977). Reverse: an African male (Moor's?) head, right, with curly hair, a chain or necklace around the neck and an indecipherable legend or pseudo-legend around the outer margin.
Notes:
An early Nuremberg issue probably dating to the period of Sigismund, Holy Roman Emperor from 1433-1437 or some time later in the 15th century. The obverse may be in imitation of the later 15th century Venus Penny series from the low countries. The reverse here is otherwise undocumented and may be in imitation of the earlier French "Moor's head" types.
This has been noted as an interesting find by the recorder.
