FINGER RING

Unique ID: NLM-600262

Object type certainty: Certain
Workflow status: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation

Gold finger ring. Plain cast band comprising a series of six elongated rhomboid panels, each with an angled crease across its centre, the panels being joined by thicker but narrowed strands. As embellishment recurs on each panel it is probably intended. This resembles a simplified version of DEV-D1B964, which is a medieval ring. However, extensive search through the other gold rings which appear on the PAS database fails to confirm parallels of a medieval date. Suggested date: Unknown, possibly Late Medieval to Post-Medieval, 1350-1800. In view of its material and initially suspected age, this object was subjected to the Treasure process, ref. 2021 T395.

Internal diameter: 19.7mm, Height: 4.3mm, Thickness (band): 1.4mm, Weight: 2.29gms
