A cast copper alloy, open topped thimble or sewing ring dating from the Medieval to Post Medieval period, about AD 1400 - 1600. It consists of a circular band with no visible seam, tapering inwards slightly from base to apex, stamped on its outer face with four uneven rows of circular holes or pits. It is 17.5mm in diameter and 9.7mm high. It weighs 3.2g.

A similar sewing ring is illustrated in McConnell, 1996, The Collector's Guide to Thimbles, page 22. It is attributed to the 16th century. The PAS Finds Recording Guide on thimbles, suggests that small, robust, apparently cast ring-type thimbles probably date from AD 1400 - 1600.
