Fragment of an Early Anglo-Saxon gilt copper alloy Great square-headed brooch, a scrap of the upper end of the missing bow and part of a headplate, with all breaks ancient. Parts of the headplate around the inner panel which has worn traces of now obscure style I decoration in counter-relief and gilding. Stumps of a double pin lug on the reverse within some corroded iron. Extant length 23mm. Extant width 20mm. Weight 4.29g. c.525 - c.560.
