A group of fragments from two modern shoes, probably dating to c. AD 1800-1900.

Two of the fragments may have originally been joined, the other two are different, and seem likely to represent a second or possibly third individual shoe. Three of the four pieces bear iron nails ringing their perimeter. The two adjoining pieces have smaller round headed nails, while the third piece has more squared off nails and is more rectangular in size. The third fragment bears no nails and is warped and damaged. There are skeuomorphic patches of green on the brownish leather of the soles, which may suggest their being in close association with copper alloy at some point.

The use of the nails, their positioning, and the shape of the soles suggests a date in the 19th century.
