Medieval copper-alloy strap end consisting of a short plate with a trefoil terminal and a bar-mount riveted to the attachment end. The attachment end is rectangular and of the same width as the bar mount. Between this and the trefoil terminal there is a narrowed section with a very small knop projecting from each side. The bar mount is not flat but curves over and around the attachment edge of the plate. A single rivet at its centre joins it to the plate. There is another rivet near the tip of the terminal. Both rivets are circular in cross-section and have a square rove at the ends. Both are wrapped in fragments of woven fabric. Similar strap ends are illustrated in Egan and Pritchard (2002) fig. 103, although those are ‘shield shaped’ rather than trefoil. The bar-mount of No. 735 is similar to this one. Mid to late 14th century.
