A cast copper-alloy knife end cap or stop dating to the Post Medieval Period c. AD 1500-1600.
The cap is cast in a bi-lobed form with a central groove tapering down from between the two rounded lobes at the top of the cap to the base. Each lobe has a sub-circular projection. This is likely to be a cap for a scale tang knife.
The handle measures 17.59 mm long, 18.14 mm wide, 6.99 mm thick and it weighs 8.56g
A broadly similar example can be found in Egan (2005) p.95, No: 413 and similar examples can be found on the database including DOR-52E3D9; NMS-1EE4D7; WAW-AC6B37 and IOW-9AAA4A.
