Fragment of bell which appears to be made of high tin content copper alloy (bell metal). It consists of part of the curved rim of an open mouthed clapper bell, 25.8mm wide by 19.7mm high with old breaks at all edges except the rim. There is a raised band 12mm up from the rim on the external face, and the inside face is rough and unfinished, with traces of probable sand casting evident. From extrapolation of the curvature it would appear to have been originally c.50mm (2 inches) in diameter at the mouth.
Could be any date - the suggested range would be late medieval to early modern, c.1400 - 1900.
