Object type certainty: Certain
Workflow status: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation

A fragment of a copper-alloy Terret ring of late Iron Age to Roman date (100 BC-AD 100). The object is the lower and one side of a 'platform decorated' type. It is broadly oval in plan, with a minor amount of rectangular-sectioned strap bar at its base and circular-sectioned thicker frame. The strap bar is demarcated from the frame by the presence of a single disc-like projecting moulding. One of three cardinal points of the terret. The panel is decorated with three recessed triangular cells situated at one end. The two outer cells retain the majority of their red enamel fill, the central cell retains only traces.

The fragment represents approximately 25% of the entire object.

The metal is light green in colour with a slightly pitted patina.
