A small Medieval to post Medieval button, of flattened spherical to biconical shape, 9.6mm diameter. The surface has been tinned but is otherwise undecorated. The reverse has a recess containing a wire loop shank. Circa late 13th to 16th century.
Notes:
As Read (2005) page 22-23, numbers 63-72. Read comments that although the majority of his examples are probably Late 13th to Mid-14th century in date, this style of button continued into at least the Early Post-Medieval period.
