An incomplete plated copper-alloy Post-Medieval button dating to AD 1600 – 1850.
The object is circular in plan and domed in section. It has a hollow, concave plain reverse. There is a small knob on the apex of the front face. The rest of the front is plated with a silver metal and decorated with incised grooves in the pattern of an eight-petalled flower. There are four parallel transverse grooves incised between each petal. There is no trace of any fastening attachments. There is some wear to the edge of the button and the underside is chipped and rough.

An identical mount is already recorded on the PAS database NARC-16DC33 and OXON-0F5093 Bailey (2004: 53) illustrates several identical examples he described as Tombac buttons dating to the 18th century.
