Medieval enamelled copper alloy shield-shaped harness pendant of 13th or 14th century date

The shield-shaped pendant is near-complete missing the top of the loop but is distorted and heavily-corroded (with a distorted length of 27.2mm, a straightened length of approximately 51mm and a weight of 6.2g). The pendant was hinged to a missing suspension mount by the truncated loop at the apex (with a surviving height of 11.0mm high, a surviving depth of 4.8mm and a thickness of 1.1mm – 6.7mm). The shield-shaped pendant (34mm long (as straight), 22.7mm wide and 1.0mm – 1.8mm thick). Remnant traces of red (gules) and possibly blue (azure) enamel on the corroded surface. The heraldic device appears to depict a griffin sergeant in red enamel (?Azure, griffin sergeant gules). The surface has remnants of a pale green corrosion and elsewhere has been stripped dark-brown.
