A complete copper alloy button with a high tin content, probably dating from a Medieval - early Post-Medieval period c.AD 1250 - 1550. The button is bi-convex, with a silvery / grey appearance to its surface, but no other decoration. It has an integral looped shank in place, and is in good condition.

Dimensions:-  Diameter 9.4mm, thickness 6.9mm and weight 2.9gm. Diameter of looped shank is 3.4mm. 

Similar buttons are illustrated in Read's 'Metal Buttons c. 900 BC - C. AD 1700' (2005, pp. 22-3, nos. 63-72), and in Bailey, G. 2004, p.43, fig.9.15. dating to the 18th century AD. Also see https://finds.org.uk/counties/findsrecordingguides/buttons/ .
