An incomplete Medieval bichrome, glazed ceramic floor tile dating to the 14th century. This a Penn tile. Not in Eames but similar in design No. 1503-1505. The tile is decorated with a central motif of a shield bearing the Arms of Plantagenet Kings of England, three lions passant guardant, with quartered circular designs in three corners. The tile is a highly fired, bright red ceramic.
