A medieval silver penny of Henry I 1100-35), Full face/cross fleury type (North 866; BMC x) dating to c.AD 1117; mint: uncertain; moneyer: Godric or Godwine. Ref: North 1994: 197-201.
The coin is poorly struck offcentre on an irregularly-shaped flan. This has resulted in approximately half of the outer circle (i.e. the area showing the inscription) being illegible.
Notes:
The reverse inscription reading either GODRI[ ] or GODPI[ ] gives the moneyer as either Godwine or Godric, a name known from a large number of mints.
