Distorted medieval gilt sheet copper alloy harness mount for the suspension of a pendant, a sub-rectangular plate with convex upper and lower edges. A slotted projection from the centre of the base is looped around an iron spindle onto the reverse. A central stud which would have been riveted to a strap has been lost. On the front face the rivet hole sits at the centre of a quatrefoil whose petals outlined by wavy engraved lines. The spaces between the petals are filled with punched annulets and the whole is framed by a wavy line. A row of six more annulets take up the space between the frame and lateral edges of the plate. Width and height c. 32mm. Height without suspension loop c.27mm. 12th century.
