A cordate flint handaxe of Lower Palaeolithic date (500,000 - 180,000 BC), made from a black flint. The handaxe is bifacially worked and complete, measuring 150mm in length and triangular, with a maximum width of 95mm. The surface demonstrates wear from rolling.

This was a beach find from an area of intertidal gravels and one side is encrusted with barnacles.
