Complete Roman pottery bowl in Brampton-type greyware with six incised wavy lines around the widest part, all within an encircling band of white slip, the straight top and basal edges of which are quite horizontal. Rim diameter 101mm, diameter at waist 106mm, basal diameter 53mm, height 80mm, weight 80g. 3rd century.

Found set at an angle of c.45 degrees into the ground surface near the centre of a marl pit. The outer surface that had been exposed to the air is stained a mossy green. An off- white flaky material was found within. 

Surface analysis of the contents carried out by portable XRF was found to contain 55% to 64% Zinc and 0.13% Copper, the balance was irresolvable.
