A plated Roman silver denarius of Vespasian (AD 69-79), dating to the period c.AD 71 (Reece Period 4). IVDAEA DEVICTA, reverse type depicting Judaea with hands bound standing left in front of palm tree. Prototype of the mint of Lyon. cf. RIC II (2nd ed.), p. 140, no. 1120 for the reverse type. This appears to be a contemporary plated copy with shortened obverse legend that is found on early denarii at Rome and on aurei at Lyon in AD 70.
