An incomplete copper-alloy harness pendant of medieval date, AD 1200 - 1400. The pendant comprises a circular plate with a curved profile – concave at the front and convex to the reverse – with an integral attachment loop projecting to one edge.

The plate is undecorated and the terminal of the attachment loop has been lost to old, worn breaks.

The metal has a mid-green delaminated patina and is worn. The pendant is 29.1mm long, 5.9mm wide, 1.1mm thick, 12.5mm in diameter and weighs 1.6g.

Similar examples are illustrated in Griffiths (1995) p.64 and also recorded on the Portable Antiquities Scheme database including as YORYM-25CD43, NLM-FC6AFA and LIN-844E26.

Harness pendants are generally dated from the twelfth to the fourteenth century, with enamelled and heraldic types predominating in the thirteenth and fourteenth centuries (Griffiths 1995, p.62).
