An incomplete post Medieval copper alloy button of the 44th Regiment of Foot, dating to c.1794-1800. The front has a crown over the number 44, all enclosed by a continuous leaf design. The front has a white metal coating and the back has a scar where the shank has broken away. When found, the button was folded in two places. It has been largely flattened, but retains two creases.
Diameter: 22.2mm. Thickness: 0.9mm (head). Weight: 2.72g.
