A copper-alloy Iron Age to Roman brooch of the Nauheim Derivative/ La Tene III Type, dating to 10 BC- AD 100. The brooch is made of a single strip of metal, which varies its cross-section according to its different parts. The head is formed of a coiled spring with four turns and an internal chord; the central coil extends downwards tapering in a circular cross-section pin. The bow has a sub-rectangular cross -section and bends at right angle with the head; it curves gently and tapers towards the end. The front face of the bow has a pair of transverse grooves marking its top; the back face of the foot has a triangular solid catch plate, which has a forward curled rear edge. The spring coils and the pin are moderately bent but the overall state of conservation is fairly good; all the surfaces still retain the original golden appereance.
