A cast white metal sheet button. The front face shows a fouled anchor while the reverse has no visible markings. This form of button was worn by the Kriegsmarine during the Second World War. The Kriegsmarine was the navy of Nazi Germany from 1935 - 1945.
The button was found on the site of a former World War II Prisoner of War Camp. It is reported that crew members of captured German U-Boats were held on the camp.
