A cut farthing of John (AD 1199 - 1216) or Henry III (AD 1216 - 1272), class 5 - 7, dating from AD 1204 - 1242. The mint and moneyer are unidentified, but the moneyer's name probably ends with an L. Abel at London, Samuel at Canterbury or Willelm L at London are the most likely possibilities. It is 11.9mm long, 8.4mm wide and 1mm thick. It weighs 0.26g. North (1994) Volume 1, number 968/4 - 980.
