PAS 15 – Finds from Wales

This year marks 15 years of the Portable Antiquities Scheme as a national scheme. Throughout the year we’ll be celebrating finds from across the country – a find a day for the whole year! Here are the finds we’ve chosen from Wales:

Iron Age stone head (WREX-DC5D73): a carved limestone head.

Medieval brooch (GAT-69425D): a copper alloy brooch in the shape of a Wyvern.

Bronze Age hoard (NMGW-3EA2A8): a hoard of copper alloy axeheads and spearheads.

Early Medieval sword belt mount (HESH-26E9D1): a gilded copper alloy mount in the Carolingian style.

Post-medieval printing plate (WREX-DA1FBD): a lead alloy letterpress printing plate with Welsh text.

Neolithic knife (NMGW-5D4879): a Neolithic flint knife that has been reworked into an awl.

Post-medieval mining token (WREX-FA7C5C): a copper alloy token issued by the Parys Mining Company in Anglesey.
