PAS 15 – Finds from Northumberland

This year marks 15 years of the Portable Antiquities Scheme as a national scheme. Throughout the year we’ll be celebrating finds from each county – a find a day for the whole year! Here are the finds we’ve chosen from Northumberland:

Post-medieval sword hilt (DUR-1B4737):  a decorated copper alloy sword hilt or hand guard.

Medieval mirror case (YORYM-31BCE6): a copper alloy mirror case with punched decoration.

Roman mount (NCL-A38DF3): a copper alloy mount inlaid with enamel and millefiori.

Early Medieval brooch (DUR-6EA782): a fragment of a copper alloy cruciform brooch.

Medieval tumbrel (DUR-1BDD67): a copper alloy coin weighing balance.

Post-medieval token (NCL-B4F01A): a silver siege coin struck at Newark in 1645-46.

Mesolithic microliths (DUR-05A819): a group of eight flint scrapers.
