PAS 15 – Finds from Northamptonshire

This year marks 15 years of the Portable Antiquities Scheme as a national scheme. Throughout the year we’ll be celebrating finds from each county – a find a day for the whole year! Here are the finds we’ve chosen from Northamptonshire:

Roman coin (NARC-A1A418): a gold one-and-a-quarter solidus of Licinius I.

Iron Age cheek-piece (NARC-771411): a gilded copper alloy decorated sheet, possibly from a helmet.

Neolithic macehead (NARC-181793): a Neolithic macehead carved from the antler of a Red Deer.

Bronze Age knife (NARC-1E59F0): a flint knife with fine retouching.

Early Medieval sword pommel (LON-F73775): an Anglo-Saxon sword pommel made of gold over a copper alloy core.

Medieval seal matrix (NARC-579590): a copper alloy seal matrix relating to St. Radegund.

Early Medieval brooch (NARC-F91726): a Saxon Great Square Headed brooch.
