This year marks 15 years of the Portable Antiquities Scheme as a national scheme. Throughout the year we’ll be celebrating finds from each county – a find a day for the whole year! Here are the finds we’ve chosen from the county of Leicestershire:

Roman plate brooch (LEIC-9A25C1): a copper alloy horse and rider plate brooch.
Medieval strap end (LEIC-F31B97): a copper alloy strap end possibly depicted Mary and Jesus.
Early Medieval mount (LVPL-9C8625): a gilt copper alloy decorated mount.
Roman cavalry helmet (PAS-984626): a silver-gilt iron cavalry helmet found in an Iron Age ritual deposit.
Mesolithic blade (LEIC-6EEA4C): a flint blade, circa 10,000-4000BC.
Medieval harness pendant (LEIC-0472A8): a copper alloy and enamel harness pendant with the coat of arms of Saer De Qunicy.
Early Medieval mount (LEIC-B6C201): a copper alloy mount in the shape of an unknown beast.
