This year marks 15 years of the Portable Antiquities Scheme as a national scheme. Throughout the year we’ll be celebrating finds from each county – a find a day for the whole year! Here are the finds we’ve chosen from the county of Lancashire:
Post-medieval coin (LANCUM-AFA35A): a ‘gun money’ Irish shilling of James II.
Iron Age pin (LANCUM-1BEF5B): a copper alloy pin with moulded decoration.
Early Medieval pin (LANCUM-657D57): an Anglo-Saxon copper alloy pin.
Medieval brooch (LANCUM-36ADA9): a copper alloy brooch of the Finno-Ugrian area of Russia.
Modern token (LANCUM-9B1944): a copper alloy token with the bee emblem of Manchester on it.
Roman harness fitting (LANCUM-85964D): a copper alloy terret ring.
Bronze Age anvil (LANCUM-9CFBE3): a Bronze Age anvil stone.
