Short profile:

Alastair has been the Finds Liaison Officer for Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire since May 2015. He studied Ancient History and Archaeology at the University of Bristol, before doing a master's degree in Egyptology. Alastair has been working for the PAS since May 2013, firstly as a volunteer for the FLO in Wiltshire. He then became the Finds Liaison Assistant for Wiltshire and Hampshire and then the Finds Recording Assistant for Lincolnshire. Before starting his current role, Alastair volunteered in the Department of Coins and Medals at the British Museum, where he worked through a hoard of more than 7000 Roman radiate coins. In spite of this, he is still fascinated by Roman coinage and other Roman finds, but is also very interested in seeing finds from other periods as well.

Alastair is normally based at Derby Museum and Art Gallery, but works in Nottingham twice a month. He works at Nottingham City Museums and Galleries at Brewhouse Yard, Castle Boulevard, Nottingham NG7 1FB on the first Wednesday of each month, and at The University of Nottingham Museum, Lakeside Arts Centre and Museum, University Park, Nottingham NG7 2RD on the third Tuesday of every month. If you would like to bring objects in on those days please email or telephone in advance to book an appointment.
