Finds Liaison Officer (Portable Antiquities Scheme) (P1112)

(One Year fixed Term contract – subject to annual review)

Inclusive Salary range from £24,463 up to £27,067 per year + car option

+ up to 18.5% employer pension contributions

St Albans Museums runs several sites including New Museum and Gallery in St Albans Town Hall, Verulamium Museum and the 15th century Clock Tower at the heart of the city centre.

The Portable Antiquities Scheme in Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire and Luton, has been in place for over 10 years. In this role you will be working with scheme managers at the British Museum and other museums across the region. The scheme is subject to an annual review as it is linked to the PAS continuing to fund the project.

We are looking for an exceptional candidate, qualified to degree level or equivalent with relevant experience in archaeology or a related discipline. Previous experience of artefact identification together with working knowledge of issues relating to metal-detecting and archaeology are essential for this post.

You must also be an excellent communicator, with good organisational skills and possess the ability to manage budgets and resources effectively.
