Job Description:
As Database Developer, you will assist in developing open source code modules that can be released to the academic and web community; integrate the Scheme’s database within the main website; train Finds Liaison Officers, academics and the public on the new website’s features and provide guidance notes.

Required Skills:
You will be educated to degree level or equivalent and have experience of data and database administration and understand data quality and consistency issues. Experience of managing servers with Linux, Apache, PHP and MySQL software is essential. You will be an effective communicator and work to tight deadlines.

The Portable Antiquities and Treasure Scheme’s website holds records for 316,000 objects and over 160,000 images which is reaching an increasing audience. As such the department are looking to recruit an individual who will assist with the redevelopment of the Scheme’s suite of websites, with a particular focus on the database, with the aim of integrating the Scheme’s data with geospatial tools, social networking facilities and to produce an innovative model.
